Abdominoplasty, or cosmetic surgery of the stomach, is an extensive surgery which leads to flattening the stomach, removing excessive fat and skin and which is aimed at strengthening the abdominal wall muscles. Abdominoplasty may visibly improve the appearance of this part of the body.
The operation consists in the surgical removal of excessive skin and fat from the middle and lower parts of the stomach and plasty of rectus abdominis muscles. As a result, the stomach is flattened, smoothened and the stretch marks are removed. After abdominoplasty the patient needs to stay in the clinic for 4-5 days. It is recommended to wear an elastic belt for about one month after the surgery has been performed.
The patient is excluded from active life for about 3 weeks. Although complications are very rare they may include haematoma’s, inflammations, and scars in the groin area.
