Vascular surgery is a branch or surgery which deals with pathologies within the blood and lymphatic vessels with the exception of the heart. The inflow of sufficient blood is an absolute condition for preserving the life and functions of each organ, therefore it is extremely important to ensure proper vascular patency. Currently there exist many modern methods of removing varicose veins by means of simple surgical procedures performed on an outpatient basis, owing to which the patient can receive nearly immediate help. However, minimally invasive treatments such as shock therapy, cryotherapy or cauterization often do not bring expected results (although for many patients they are sufficient).
An effective method of improving venous circulation in the legs is laser removal of variacose veins. In our clinic we perform this procedure with the use of the Cool Touch laser. Its main advantage is that it doesn’t require a longer stay in the hospital The patient can return home usually after couple hours after the surgery. The risk of complications is lower than in operational removal of veins (stripping). The recovery process is also shorter, and cosmetic effects are much better. Laser removal of blood vessels enables to close through the skin blood vessels of vessel diameter up to 4mm. If venous insufficiency concerns the main venous trunks – the saphenous and peroneal vein – and is advanced, only surgery can bring desired effects. Depending on the size of varicose veins, the procedure may be performed in two different ways. Varicose veins with diameter of up to 4 mm can be closed through the skin. Otherwise the procedure is performed intravascularly. In the first case, the patient immediately returns to full fitness. In case of intravascular procedures, full recovery can take up to 7 days.
